26/9/12 Manchester United v Newcastle United: 5 Beautiful GIF Moments

Manchester United started their Capital One Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford. United rested many first team players and handed debuts to several youngsters, who did themselves proud on the night.
It was however some very familiar faces who shone the brightest, here are my top 5 GIF moments from the game…

1. Wayne Rooney Megs

Wayne Rooney, who was awarded MOTM, returned from injury and looked sharp. He showed this early on with a lovely little nutmeg to find the space to get a shot away.

2. Javier Hernandez play

If there is one part of his game Hernandez will be looking to improve on its his general build up play. His hard work looks to be paying off here as he starts the move with some lovely skill to start the break. After a beautiful Welbeck touch is just cleared before Rooney can get on the end of it, Hernandez plays a brilliant little first time pass to play in Tom Cleverley. Less said about his finish the better.

3. Anderson Pass

Anderson, who had a very bright game in the midfield, demonstrated how good his passing can be with this gorgeous outside of the boot pass.

4. Alexander Büttner touch

Büttner started his 2nd game for Man Utd and looked assured in both defense and attack throughout. My highlight of his was this brilliant piece of control to intercept a Newcastle attack.

5. David de Gea Pass

With SAF currently choosing to rotate his keepers, there is one aspect of the game that De Gea betters his rival and that is his distribution. Pin point pass to Javier Hernandez. Ping.

When I was watching it, I remember seeing that Büttner touch, and thinking “I hope that’s on Beautifully Red tomorrow”
Love how this blog has changed how I watch United games now.

I thought Ando was quality last night. He really seems like a better player when he’s one of the senior members of the first team. There’s less pressure on, and he can play his natural game. Also pleased he was given 90 minutes, even if he looked knackered at the end!

Anderson looked really good but yeah he did look like he needed oxygen at the end!

  1. Manchester United 2-1 Newcastle United – kids do alright as stars return | Stretty Rant - September 27, 2012

[...] Tom finally did get his first United goal early in the second half – a flowing move that should have seen Hernandez play in Welbeck eventually enabled Newcastle regroup but upon getting the ball on the edge of the area, Cleverley took advantage of the Newcastle keeper’s blocked line of sight to clip a passed effort past him. The introduction of Papiss Cisse gave Newcastle renewed impetus and he quickly latched onto a fabulous cross by Ferguson to pull a goal back. Both sides hit the woodwork but United held out for the win. As ever, you can catch some of the forgotten highlights from the game in GIF format on Beautifully Red. [...]
