7/10/12 Newcastle United v Manchester United: 5 Beautiful GIF Moments

Manchester United bounced back from their disappointing loss to Spurs last time out with a brilliant 3-0 away win at Newcastle.
United stuck to the same ‘Diamond’ formation that saw them beat Cluj in midweek and dominated the opening 20 mins of the game, deservedly taking a 2-0 lead.
The Reds then showed a much more improved defensive display when Newcastle took control. United sealed the win half way through the 2nd half to jump to 2nd in the table.

There was some brilliant play by United, here are my top 5 GIF moments…

1. Jonny Evans backheel

United started brightly and after 4 mins worked their first clear chance. Nice chipped pass by Tom Cleverley finds Robin van Persie who heads the ball down to the Jonny Evans. The United defender took a touch and then played a lovely backheel into Danny Welbeck who scuffed his shot at goal.

2. Rio Ferdinand chest pass, Rafael touch

The weekly United chest pass features, this time its Rio who pulls one out to Rafael, who shows a brilliant touch to keep the ball in play and United in possession.

3. Rafael attacks

This would have been a very strong contender for Goal of the Season if Rafaels brilliant effort had found the far corner.
David de Geas pin point pass is controlled on the chest by Rafael who then knocks the ball over the defenders head, plays a 1-2 with Van Persie and then hits a lovely effort that just evades the far corner. Stunning attack.

4. David de Gea save

It was perhaps his own fault that he needed to make this save after poor play saw the ball loop over his head and onto the cross bar but what he did next was pure class.
Replays are unclear if the whole ball crossed the line after De Gea pulls off a wonderful save to stop a certain Cisse header from 5 yards  Big props to Jonny Evans who reacted first to clear after the save.

5. Nice United play

This moment summed up the type of performance Man Utd produced in such a tough away game.
Brilliant defending from Rafael, nice touch and tidy play by Cleverley and a beautiful first time pass by Rooney to see United start a counter. Sexy football.
