5 Beautiful GIF Moments from Manchester United v Everton

Manchester United took full advantage of City’s slip up at Southampton with a 2-0 win versus Everton at Old Trafford to open up a 12 point lead atop of the Premier League table.
United, who SAF admitted were due to make 7 changes to the side before the City result, started with a very strong side regardless of their tough away trip to Madrid on Wednesday and their approach paid off.

Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie scored the goals in the first half, whilst some brilliant defending from the entire side helped keep the clean sheet and take home the 3 points.

Here are my top GIF moments from the game…

1. Nemanja Vidic block

Setting the tone for his game, Vidic pulled out this great block to deny Everton a clear chance at goal. The replay shows his commitment as he wrestles free and launches himself at the ball.
Vidic had a superb game winning more aerial duels (4), attempting more clearances (13), more blocks (2) and more interceptions (6) than anyone else on the pitch.

2. Wayne Rooney touch

Its great to see Rooney finding form at such a vital stage of the season. His first touch is usually a key sign to his form and this was class as he plucks the ball from the air and lays the ball off.

3. Tom Cleverley volley

Stunning technique from Cleverley to attempt this rasping volley that is tipped over the bar by Tim Howard.

4. United passing/play

Lovely passing move from United sees Rafael driving at the Everton back line before Ryan Giggs wins United a corner from a block cross. Love it when United play this sort of 1 touch football.

5. Rafael tackle

Tasked with shutting down Leighton Baines (most chances created in the League), Rafael had a brilliant game and was named Man of the Match by Gary Neville. Great in attack (1 assist), he was solid in defence all day, highlighted with this crunching tackle on Baines.

Great play by RVP to get away which leads to a deep cross that Giggs keeps in play with a cheeky backheel

David de Gea saves well from a dipping Osman effort

Wonderful skill by Robin van Persie to keep possession and play the ball out wide

Beautiful one touch United passing move

Great pass by Robin van Persie is brilliantly taken by Rooney who’s unlucky with the attempted nutmeg

i had to go with the Vidić block because it looks like he’s coming into pre-injury form again and that’s terrifying, but i wanted to vote for the Cleverley volley too. *votes for all of them*

i don’t know what you’ve done differently with the making of the gifs this week but they’re overly spectacular! incredibly crisp and incredibly bright [unless it's the broadcast from which you took them, in that case...carry on :D ]

Good choice, Vidic was class! If we can get a few months of ‘old’ Vidic we will be in a very strong position come May!

Credit for GIF quality must go with the broadcaster.

      Thanks for voting B

Rafael was unbelievable against Everton, he really is coming into his own…let’s hope he can keep Ronaldo quiet tomorrow! Vidic’s block was my GIF moment of the week, just his desire to not concede, proper Captain’s performance – strong, determined, leading by example.
