Manchester United face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, looking to increase their current 12-point lead at the top of the table and try to put even more pressure on Mancini’s team whose next opponents are the 3rd placed team in the Premier League, Chelsea. Having qualified for the FA Cup Quarter-finals earlier this week, The Red Devils will be entering this match full of confidence.
United go into the next fixture in great form, with 5 wins and 1 draw in their last 6 games in all competitions. QPR’s recent form has been poor, but the fact they beat Chelsea and kept clean sheets against the likes of City and Tottenham points out that this won’t be an easy game at all.
The United form men
Nemanja Vidic
After coming back from injury, our skipper has looked better and better with every game he has played so far. After being left out of the squad for the Real Madrid clash, Vidic once again put in a fantastic performance against Reading and was the commanding man in our defence. Reading’s crosses and high balls often cause problems to their opponents but Vidic was very well up for the challenge. With the ball dropping in the 6 yard box, Vidic reacted quickly and made this outstanding header to clear the ball, even though there was a Reading defender ready to put it in the back of the net.

It’s not just the fantastic headers, but also the amazing tackles he makes every match. Particularly, this fantastic block he made to deny Everton a clear chance at goal. You can see his commitment and determination to keep the ball away from the box, so he launches himself at the ball.

David de Gea
Although he has made a couple of mistakes throughout the season they don’t seem to have too much effect on his confidence and selfbelief. The young Spanish goalkeeper made some truly outstanding saves too keep us in the game against Madrid 2 weeks ago.
It looks like he finally cemented his place in the first team and became the main man between the sticks in goal. His quick reflexes and quick feet are the reason he has made so many outstanding saves with his legs. Labelled unconventional by many, it gets the job done. An example of this was his extraordinary kung-fu save against Madrid.

Shot stopping really is his strongest asset. Much like the save he made against Fulham to deny Bryan Ruiz, de Gea once again with a little help from his fingertips made a truly exceptional save preventing Madrid from getting an early lead.
Robin van Persie
Despite not scoring in the last 2 games, the Dutchman really was an important player in United’s recent games. He could have won us the game against Madrid and had a massive say in the way we played against Reading ever since he came off the bench. We all know what he’s capable of in front of goal but his passing has been top class as well. Stunning cross field passes like this just prove that he really is a football maestro.

Wide Men
With Ashley Young fit again, United have all 3 wingers to choose from.
Nani changed the game since he came on against Reading and won us the game. He opened the scoring with this well taken finish and then set up the second for Javier Hernandez. Could this be the turning point for him? I truly hope so. Nani was exceptional on his last trip to Loftus Road.
Valencia’s poor form continues to follow him so he’s more than likely to start the game from the bench. But, with QPR’s pitch being smaller than most of the other grounds in the Premier League, are we going to see 2 wingers like last year or are we going to make some changes this time?
One to Watch – Adel Taarabt
Adel Taarabt has been one of QPR’s best and most dangerous players this season. His runs with the ball can cause some real problems to our defence. His fantastic performances have seen him linked with top clubs such as AC Milan. If QPR do stay up, this man will be the man carrying them forward.

This fixture last year
Rooney’s goal after 51 seconds gave United the lead and they controlled the game as the minutes ticked by. Michael Carrick’s superb solo run in the 56th minute killed the game off and secured United the 3 points.
